She began her medical journey at Guys, Kings and St Thomas’ Hospital, where she not only earned her medical degree but also pursued a BSc in Infection and Immunity. This strong foundation in scientific research continued with a prestigious grant to investigate the role of TNF growth factor in diabetic retinopathy. Dr. Soomro specialises in medical retina, a field in which she has made significant contributions through her research and publications. She further honed her expertise with a prestigious fellowship at Moorfields Eye Hospital, a renowned centre for excellence in ophthalmology. Dr. Soomro is a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, a distinguished achievement recognised for her expertise and commitment to patient care. As the AMD Lead for Herts and West Essex, Dr. Soomro has led the service for the past 5 years, ensuring high-quality care for patients with age-related macular degeneration, even during the challenging times of the pandemic.
