About the Role

The role will be leading the theatre department team and ensuring the day-to-day operation reflects the highest standard of governance, clinical effectiveness, and standards of care.

You will be an experienced Theatre Practitioner or have had experience as a Lead or Senior Theatre Practitioner, using your advanced knowledge and experience to guide and support your team whilst actively being involved in the delivery of patient care.

You will be responsible for the logistical and procedural processes within the team, ensuring policy and governance is strictly adhered to whilst maintaining the smooth operation of the team.

We are looking for someone who can:

  • Be a visible leader for the hospital team, clinical & administration, encouraging development and motivation within the team
  • Oversee and undertake scrub procedures in ophthalmic cases, supporting the theatre team as a senior Theatre Lead and ensuring safe patient care
  • Support the Hospital Manager working with the Facilities & Estates team to ensure all equipment is fit for purpose and use
  • Support and coach a diverse team to succeed in their goals and maintain wellbeing
  • Lead your teams in CQC readiness, improvement plans, and provide advice when required
  • Adhere to good record keeping, drug administration in line with guidelines, ensuring you have an audit processes and action plans in place to monitor the effectiveness
  • Adhere to Information Governance rules on data protection

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • Registered practitioner with the NMC or HCPC
  • Considerable experience working within a scrub role – ideally Ophthalmic
  • Passion for high quality patient safety and care
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent level of experience
  • Previous management or team leader experience
  • Teaching or coaching experience

  • Previous theatre experience is required. Ophthalmic scrub experience is preferred but not essential as full training is available for suitably qualified RGNs / ODP’s with at least 2 years post qualification clinical experience in a secondary care setting or similar.
