Mid South Essex Integrated Community Dermatology: Single Point of Access (SPOA) CHEC provides a Single Point of Access (SPOA) for all adult dermatological conditions. Referrals are accepted from clinicians across primary, community, and secondary care. Triage and Teledermatology Upon submission to the SPOA, all referrals undergo an initial clinical triage within a maximum of two working days to determine the most appropriate care pathway. This triage process assesses suitability for teledermatology in accordance with NHS England and British Association of Dermatologists (BAD) guidance. As a primary feature of the new service, patients will be assessed and treated via telehealth. This ensures faster access to specialist care and offers greater convenience for patients. Integrated Model of Care Through a ‘one-stop’ model of care, the service ensures patients are navigated efficiently to the correct setting—whether in a primary, community, or secondary care environment. To support long-term health, the service also provides access to education and training designed to empower patients in self-care and the ongoing self-management of their dermatological conditions where appropriate. Urgent Suspect Cancer USC referrals to Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust (MSEFT) will only be available via the CHEC SPOA. Direct referral into MSEFT have been disabled. USC referrals will be triaged within one working day for teledermatology. All confirmed USC cases following teledermatology, and cases triaged as not suitable for self-care or treatment in primary or community settings, will be referred on for acute care. CHEC will directly refer into Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust (MSEFT) to ensure seamless delivery of the USC pathway across mid and south Essex.
