Roger Wong Ophthalmic Assistant Roger began his career in Optics seven years ago, working as a Senior Ophthalmic Assistant (OA) at an optician’s practice. His role involved a wide range of responsibilities, from conducting pre-screening assessments to dispensing complex eyewear, including multifocal and high-prescription glasses. He also trained and qualified in eyeglass repairs and patient instruction for contact lens use. Roger joined CHEC as an Ophthalmic Assistant/Technician, specialising in cataract consultations, OCT scans, and visual field assessments. His passion and commitment to patient care led him to progress to Senior OA, where he took on theatre roles, including admitting patients for surgery, pre-theatre escort, and acting as a runner/circulator during cataract surgeries. In 2024, Roger achieved a significant milestone by successfully passing his Scrub Healthcare Associate course. As a qualified Scrub Associate at CHEC, he now supports the surgical team as a scrub nurse during cataract surgeries, using his training to educate and assist colleagues in delivering exceptional patient care.
